The Travellers Rest Hotel was established in 1908, and passed through four generations of ownership until 2016. The building that we see today was built in 1937 at a time of peak farming activity in Thorpdale. Located a stones throw from the old Thorpdale Railway station, the hotel was designed to cater for local needs and an increasing amount of road traffic at ‘this hitherto unknown beauty spot’.
Originally founded as a hotel and a general store, the business is now transitioning to becoming an iconic destination for locals and travellers to this region.
