The Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Senator the Hon Carol Brown, has taken a significant step toward improving road safety. She recently signed a new Australian Design Rule (ADR) 108/00 – Reversing Technologies. The aim is to reduce the number of reversing collisions involving pedestrians, particularly those resulting in severe or fatal injuries.
Starting from 1 November 2025, this rule will apply to all new model vehicles. And by 1 November 2027, it will encompass all new vehicles on Australian roads. The implementation of advanced reversing technologies is expected to enhance safety and prevent tragic accidents. 🚗🛑
